    I like Louise Hay's suggestion.. just tell it "Thank you for sharing",
like when your Aunt was telling you about her gall bladder surgery.
"Thankyou for sharing" offers gratitude to the voices that makes them
relax, instead of resistance that makes them louder. They feel heard, and
they don't notice that you have not actually agreed to DO anything about
their ideas.
   It is even more helpful to understand the stuff of the ego-voices, where
they come from and why, so you can release the negative attitudes towards
them that actually makes them louder.
   In the course at your life, you have gathered a large collection of
opinion about things, attitudes, preferences, beliefs, and emotional
memories. It is the job of the Shakti energy to bring every single one of
them up to be reviewed by your conscious mind and released by the power of
your free will.

   All of the opinions that make you, you are stored in your unconscious
mind and in your body. Memories are not only held in the brain but also
throughout the entire nervous system. The shaking and twitching of Kriya
when the energy rises is coming from the ego that is stored within the body
memory burning off. Kundalini wants to clean your closets of all of the
junk, but it needs your permission to throw anything away.

  So when the negative ego voices come up, it is simply Goddess asking if
you "are sure you want to keep this stuff?" The voices are coming up so
you can set them free, by using your free will to thank them and tell them
they are no longer needed.

    If instead you have an attitude of " don't bother me with that stuff
now", you are shoving the stuff back into the closet so it becomes a more
urgent issue, but you are also adding more negative energy to it, so it
gets bigger.

   Like the Borg and the Daleks say " resistance is useless ". Resistance,
adds more energy to be cleared on top of the energy that's already trying
to be cleared. It clogs up the system and makes everything more difficult.

  That is where the quality of mindfulness comes in. Mindfulness is simply
being aware enough of your thoughts, to consciously release the ones that
are no longer of value as they come up.
   At this time you are in a place where you still think some of them are
of value, and so you cling to them. Eventually they will all come up to be
released.

  In order to learn something, you must first admit that there is something
you do not know. Kundalini wants you to give up everything you think you
know, so that inspiration can flow in to replace it with a bigger truth.
Fortunately, that does not happen all at once. At least not usually.
    Ideally the content of ego is presented issue by issue in association
with each chakra opening, as Kundalini makes its way up the spine. However
no 2 awakenings are exactly alike, because no two personalities are exactly
like. We all have different stuff coming up to be released, and the
release takes different forms.

  One thing that does seem common though, is that willingly surrendering
ego opinions to make way for something even better with mindfulness and
meditation, internally, is easier than resisting them so that they grow big
enough to manifest externally. Not that we really have that much control
over the process.... It will do what it will do.

  This also explains why Kundalini often increases with meditation. The
more stuff that is released, the clearer the path is for the energy to
rise, and the more stuff it can bring up to be released. Some folks find
they have to stop meditating once they are awakened or else stuff comes out
faster than they can process it, which can be traumatic.

  I have found a lot of resonance between Kundalini and Shamanism. When I
was having difficulty shutting out the ego voices to access the wiser
guidance, coz I am such a stubborn creature, often I would use a sleep
deprivation visionquest to get insight.
   After 30 hours awake, I surrender better. My ego resistance runs out of
steam and poops out, and then all kinds of inspired info comes thru that I
was blocked from hearing before.
   I am ADD, so it was also helpful to use sleep deprivation to slow down
my thinking enough to be mindful of it, instead of it racing too fast to
analyse.
   Once, I stayed up for an entire weekend, released a ton of buried grief,
and got to a wonderful place of stillness where I could watch my thoughts
go by like airplanes pulling banners flying slowly across my mental space.
A state that is usually not accessible to an ADD person thru meditation,
coz our hyperactive brains won't hold still long enough.
    It must be true that K. alters DNA, tho, coz ADD is genetic, yet my
mind is a much quieter place, these days.. if I am having a conversation in
my head, then it probably is real.. a telepathic conversation with someone
else, or with a spirit.
   Sounds odd, I know, but I have confirmed it so many zillion times it no
longer seems odd, to me.. I am comfortable with it enough to depend on
telepathy, and spend less time typing.
