On a day of high drama at Lancaster Gate, it emerged that the Nationwide
Building Society had warned the Football Association that they would not
allow Hoddle to wear their logo if he remained in office.

The full scale of the commercial pressure placed on the FA - and the serious
risk that the four-year, £15million deal with its new sponsors - forced it
to accept that Hoddle had disgraced himself beyond repair and a unanimous
decision was made that he should go.

Nationwide marketing director Mike Lazenby said: 'Football is part of the
nation's heritage and an integral part of our culture. The FA is guardian of
that heritage and the figurehead for the national team must therefore
possess gravitas and integrity.

So one has the choice - Materialism OR Spirituality.

Of course, they are two side of the same coin so to speak.

Our real path is to combine both in a boundless zen condition of
nothingness!
