kundalini-l-d Digest Volume 96 : Issue 134 1 Date: Wed, 4 Sep 1996 From: DUANE YOUNG Subject: RE: Direct Experience I was beginning to think that I was a lone soul in my approach. Now I see that there is at least one more! I had a couple of intense experiences with "kundalini", at least that's a word that would be most consistent with my experience. But my experience is also so different in many ways, so it's clear to me that to call it anything is to limit what it truly is. I've skimmed a few books on the subject and all seem to present themselves as if one can define and isolate this "thing" that we call "kundalini". So what is it? A collection of symptoms? Including what one could call mental symptoms, and many have? Or is it just another belief system that we use to get us from one point to another? I find that what I believe in becomes real. I also find myself realizing that I am using my beliefs to get me where I want to be and then I drop the belief. For those who meditate, I breathe into my chakras occasionally. That seems to give me a greater frequency of OBEs (which is just another attempt to package experience). But I find that the greatest tool that I have is my own desire and intent. With those I can achieve whatever I choose. I fully "believe" this. I'd like to make one more point related to Howard's comments. It seems to me that nothing is ever known. Even when we feel that our experience has created a known for us, we create from that experience a belief which we feel strongly about and then call a known. So a known is only an experienced belief. So what is there to know? Nothing really. But it seems then that we can learn how to experience more fully and with the joy of our own creativity. So really, whatever anyone wishes to believe is up to them. If it works, then use it. It's just nice to hear someone else say some of the things that I feel all the time. [In response to Gloria, re; 'K' and emotions, etc]; - Kundalini DOES give one access to their higher self, whether there be duality or not. K is INTELIGENT, and when activated, AUTOMATICLY joins the two aspects together. To activate K is to speed up a naturally occurring evolutionary process. It increase the flow of energy to the entire being, which causes the being to function at a higher level. It is at this higher level that one becomes more 'aware'. Spirituality was built into our systems from the get go and becomes more pronounced thru the activation of K. The increased flow of energy causes the receptors in the being to operate more efficiently, thereby expanding it's field of 'awareness'. Add more ram to your computer, and it will operate better, faster, and have the ability to do more. The fastest way to purposely activate K is thru 'self fertilization', whereby you take the energy you would use for procreation, and turn it inwards. In this 'union', the dual energys, [male/female, up/down, big/small, love/hate, etc.] unite into one energy. Now unified, one becomes whole and complete, and 'awakens' to ones true nature, which now 'sees' beyond duality, and becomes one with the 'all' One becomes 'enlightened' "I am the father, of the son whom I give birth to, ...which is me" - 3 Date: Wed, 4 Sep 1996 From: stampmanATNOSPAMix.netcom.com (Daniel Rusch-Fischer ) Subject: Re: Between Lives You wrote: What I was wondering is, does anyone ever remember what goes on between lives ? ------------------------------------------------------------ For the Tibetan point of view, check out the Bardo Thodol (The Tibetan Book of the Dead). I go into the supermarket ... complete strangers will ... put their hand on my shoulder or ask me where to find Bologna or radish's or something. ------------------------------------------------------------ I have been getting this stuff a lot also and have been trying to figure out what explanation there could be. Have you noticed anything different about your skin or complexion? I find my wife standing next to me and rubbing my arm or hand until I say, "What the heck are you doing?". She tells me that my skin has become incredibly soft to touch and that she just likes the sensations she gets from 'petting' me. I don't have any speculation about the touching thing, but as far as people coming up to us... I think the k-awakening has made us more 'attractive' on a very simple level. I have this persistantly happy feeling since my awakening and I am sure that it shows in my face and mannerisms - logically, then, when people are in need of assistance they would be 'attracted' to the friendly-looking, non-threatening, kind of spacey guy standing over by the eggs admiring the nifty texture on the grey paper cartons. Does that make sense? Of course it doesn't explain why the last one that came up to me said, "I felt that I should invite you to my church", told me the time and address and then wandered back to her shopping cart shaking her head with a puzzled look that implied that she had no idea why she had just done that. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ =-) DANananda - 4 Date: Wed, 4 Sep 1996 From: "Alvin T. Dan, You are bristling with energy and this is why people are attracted to you. If you are in a good mood like you say you are, you will find people attracted to you, based on the energy that you are putting off. If you really want to see how the energy works, go to a store and be in a real grumpy, hard to deal with mood and you will notice that you are repelling people from you rather than attracting them. Sometimes I did this with my wife, in that I would be nice, then get mad at the smallest provocation, then back to nice and so on. This would cause a rollercoaster effect and eventually she would say "Please stop doing that to me". This is a good way to see how effective your energy is affecting other people. When you have cultivated a high energy awareness people subconsiously will be drawn to you or repelled based on your intent. I guess the reason I referred to them as "seers" in that post was to try and suggest that we might locate their observation within the context of scientific inquiry, that is: scientific observation. Without getting too "out there" I think it's possible to consider that, in a group of people with highly developed faculties, certain "subtle" observations might be just that: observations. Just as we share a very commonplace consensus about how we visually distinguish between red "stop" signs, and green "go" signs (though ultimately the perception *is* subjective), perhaps it's possible within a group of people with matured perception to share the same commonplace consensus about the visual distinction between, say, "ida" and "pingala." > > The Vedic seers may have had great truth and great discipline, but only my > experience of their truth makes it meaningful to me. The post about this > mentioned "nadis." This is a common term in yoga, but you can't see or point > to them. This is what I mean: Maybe they *could* see them and point to them... if these faculties are just beginning to develop in people from our culture it would be hard for us to imagine such perception being so commonplace... If you go back in ancient history (tribes in Africa?? Greece??--I can find the source) you find only three or four words for different colors. It's thought that they actually didn't distinguish *or* perceive more colors than that. Over time, our visual perception has refined, and now we speak commonly of very fine differences in color. Perhaps there is a paralell here. One yogi > suggested I could only cure my K related constipation with special breathing > for an hour a day. Another source said special asanas. Both sources claimed > a science to their recommendations, when in fact it was observation of > personal experience. But this is no different than 2 medical doctors with differing opinions about optimal treatment paths--based on "observation" of the same data from urine samples and MRI scans... I mean, maybe this is just an expression of Ohm's law (where "trust" and "surrender" reduce resistance--in the electrical sense)!!! We'll only know if *we* start to compare notes... Juliet
