me how one can find out about boarding houses or cheap studio apartments 
type of deals in Paramus NJ. I might be working out there and I've never 
been on my own. However, it's too far from where I currently live. Does 
anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to find a place out there. 
Maybe a newspaper to recommend or something? Thanks.

westerners who are experiencing something that has been described mostly in

Subject: Yes, I know its about sex again or kind of.

What to do with lust. The buddhists say or I gather it is: "just notice
it." I did this. I couldn't get the the area of changing the lust into
love although I know how to do that too. When I am horny I just want to
have sex yet I also notice that the "just want to have sex" might cause
more suffering then the momentary sexual bliss.

As for other emotions I am learning to just note all of them. I have
felt that if I try to push away enotions that I felt were "wrong" that
they would just come back when I least expected them. Keeping myself
noticing and up with the idea of right action opened my Kundalini
before. I was aware to notice my choices and pick the ones that create
the less or no suffering to myself or another.

I also not my awareness from my meditation. I must note everything as
it is so that I do not become clinging to the illustions that are.

Eric, what do you mean by the 4th initiation?
and what practices do you see as ways to overcome the temptations
of the physical, emotional and mental realms?

The Esoteric Tibetan Buddhist tradition channelled by Alice Bailey , which is
also associated loosely with theosophy has the following idea.

In the crown chakra we bring together wisdom and love into a single
manifestation.  The Buddha would represent the wisdom aspect, because he was
the first enlightened being to fully manifest wisdom here on earth.  The
Christ would represent the love aspect as he was the first to fully manifest
love on earth.

I get the sense that some here are threatened by Christianity, possibly like
me they have had to listen to too many hell, fire and damnation sermons
throughout their childhood.  But to throw out Christ along with Christianity,
is a little like throwing the baby out with the bath water. What Christ
really taught is not what the churches taught. He never personally claimed to
be anything but a reformer of Judaism.

In any case all religions become one in "K".  as a result we should be open
to any words a person uses to try to explain their experience. They are only
words.

We must look at the essence of what a person is trying to convey behind the
words, if we can we will learn a lot more from each other.

Personally, I use everything in my own seeking.

The more that you are focused in the now, the less you are able to move that
energy away to get involved in anything past or future. It is like you know
the truth and spirit will hold you inside of the energy field and even on
going out to talk with another there is no energy lost from the now. Don't be
anxious about that, it is a part of the training. Also as you are centered
in, which means into this very second there is naturally more power coming
into your awareness and environment because you are in the eye of the needle
where all truth resonates from. This is where meditation and really
understanding the power of the now work together, it directly effects
everything that goes on around you. Hope this helps. G

I still don't know what post triggered such a reaction, but I grew up a
Southern Baptist, hell-fire, brimstone, and all the rest..  After my K
initiation, I have a different understanding about the Christ.  I now
believe that the k will produce a "Christ-mass" or that we are all working
toward our own Second Coming in that WE will be the Masters.  One day all
humans will be masterful.

Religion is therefore a search for self-knowledge, a search for the divine within ourselves. We should not think of ourselves as needing to be "saved." We are never lost. At worst, we are living in ignorance of our true nature.

Vedanta acknowledges that there are many different approaches to God, and all are valid. Any kind of spiritual practice will lead to the same state of self-realization. Thus Vedanta teaches respect for all religions.

The Main Ideas of Vedanta Following are some of the main tenets of Vedanta:

• God is one without a second, absolute and indivisible. Though impersonal, beyond name and form, God assumes various personal forms to reveal itself to us. God is our soul. We are primarily consciousness, part of the cosmic consciousness.

• All of the incarnations (manifestations of God on Earth) are actual embodiments of Divinity. No one incarnation can be regarded as the only manifestation of that Divinity.

• There is no accident in the cosmic universe. Human destiny is governed by the law of cause and effect.

• We are born on earth repeatedly to finish the unfinished work of realizing our divinity. Although we suffer because of actions, we can control ourselves and hence our destiny.

• There is a higher state of consciousness which can be achieved in this human birth.

• There are many ways to achieve union with God, through the intellect, emotions, actions, and the will. A specific path or a combination should be followed to realize the aim and objectives of life.

Bhakti Yoga

This is the cultivation of a devotional relationship with God through prayer, ritual and worship. In this practice, the human emotions are give a "Godward turn." Their energy is used in search for God within.

Jnana Yoga

This Yoga is the approach to God through discrimination and reason. The goal is freedom. All of our miseries in life are caused by seeing difference, and so the jnana yogi tries to break through this delusion by seeing God everywhere.

Karma Yoga

The path to God through selfless service to others is Karma Yoga. By working in this spirit, the God within each person is worshipped.

Raja Yoga

This is sometimes called the yoga of meditation. It is the soul of all the yogas. The emphasis here is on attuning the mind to God and truth through concentration and mediation.

A Brief History Throughout the centuries, India has produced many great saints and illumined teachers. One of the greatest of these was Sri Ramakrishna (1836-1886). His intense spirituality attracted a group of young disciples who, on his passing, formed a monastic community, later to be called the Ramakrishna Order of India.

One of the young monks, Swami Vivekananda (1863-1902), came to America as the representative of Hinduism at the World's Parliament of religions held in Chicago in 1893. His success was so great that he was invited to remain. For three years he toured the United States lecturing and holding classes. With the help of some of his brother monks, a number of Vedanta centers were started in America.

There are 13 Vedanta Societies in the United States and 125 Centers in the world managed by the Ramakrishna Order. Over 1,000 more centers bear the names of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda.
