Buenos,
OK, heres a bit of cerebral stimulation (and thats all it is; I think we all know this
in answer to those saying "stop talking about k", etc).
After my brother had a nervous breakdown I went to San Francisco. While enjoying a
particulaly lucid moment (its that fault line you know ;-) I came to the following
conclusion.
The planet can basicly be split down the middle into left and right hemisperes. The left
or western hemisphere being the male and logical/rational/scientific side. The right
side being the female and intuitive side. These two hemispheres are a world apart
(excuse pun) which is why the world is such a strange place. The condition could be
compared to that of someone having an awakening causing their right brain to race ahead
with all sorts of emotions while leaving their left brain to panic in the aftermath (the
left brain 'needs to feel' secure within the realms of learnt conditioning while the
right brain is more concerned with individual status and power).
My theory being that the world is totally insane! I was in a rather melancholy mood at
the time admittedly :-(. But also I thought that maybe the planetary k energy has
already started flowing big style - ie. it started about 2000 years ago when things
really started getting challenging.
This ties in well with Iver Justers evolutionary force message (digest #58) and has a
nice fractal microcosm/macrosm feel to it which I like. I don't think I have to spell
out the implications - ask me or feel free to pull my theory to bits, this is a
discussion group after all!

I refine my intent or dharma in a meditive refinement state. With sex I
just notice it. I notice all that happens in my mental visions. My
intrest is to refine sex in a mental/spiritual sence with who ever my
lover might be.
I remember that desire causes suffering so I thought why not create
desires that are of the nature of right action. If one notices what
causes suffering one can learn to do something that causes little, no,
or causes bliss.
I like the experince as it is and all the posiblitys that are possible.
There are ways to evelate you knowing through your state of mind and
your meditation.
Do you need to have a orgasm?
Do you really need to be discusted becasue of sex like this or that?
If one notices sex as it is then one can just relate to it as that.

I've been swallowed by a boa constrictor,
I've been swallowed by a boa constrictor.
And i don't like it very much.
Oh No,Oh no, he's swallowed my toes, he's swallowed my toes,
Oh me, oh me, he's up to my knees, he's up to my knees.
Oh fiddle, oh fiddle, he's up to my middle, he's up to my middle,
Oh heck, oh heck he's upto my neck, he's up to my neck.
Oh my, oh my, he's up to my eyes, he's up to my eyes,
Oh golly, oh golly-------------gulp!
By the way I did not compose it. it's on a children's album by Peter. Paul,
and Mary.
Silly me, and to think I used to sing this to my children when they were
small-----
Little did I know.

I have heard some of Deepak Chopra's tapes, and seen him lecture once or
twice on public TV. He is an excellent speaker. His training is in the
medical field and he is interested in helping people become healthy by
getting in touch with their Higher Selves.
He has a unique way of mixing his own gleanings, Various Indian beliefs,
western beliefs, and a potpourri of poets etc together, with scientific
observation. This last I like, because I like to test all this energy stuff
against what is known in Western science myself. It can be very fruitful. A
lot of people I know are finding him very helpful.
To Barney: Yes the mysteries, and gnosticism etc are part of the traditions
of the west.
Don't forget while you make the list the Norse tradition, Egyptian, or most
important, the Sumerian, that one is even older than the Bible. I've spent
several years studying all the myths of the West and many of the East as
well. When you delve into the collective unconscious as you are forced to
when you have a "K" experience, sometimes it seems you will never even
remotely understand what the mind is going through, unless you do delve into
world mythology. Joseph Campbell is my favorite author here, but Robert
Graves is also useful too.

What I like about Chopra, is that even if I don't agree with him, he
offers ideas and perspectives that I haven't thought of or encountered
before.

Chris, In case you haven't noticed, for everyone on this list with k, there
has been a different path. People have had it roused from drugs, meditation,
gurus, sunsets, and even from totally udknown sources. (Eg they were just
sitting in their chair when all of a sudden...)
This list has shown me that there are as many answers to your questions as
there are people on the list, and gurus in the world.
It sounds to me like you had some k, and I do feel that people with k can
easily spark the k in others.

the world of k. You might start with reading the old posts and seeing where
you resonate. If one person in particular seems reasonable to you, I am sure
they will be happy to share more with you, on-line or off-line.
You might try going to a big bookstore too or looking at Richard Satin's
book list on the k...
It might take a while to sort things out, too, so I would cut your self a
lot of slack, love, and patience. Be on a journey of discovery!
And remember, a lot of us on this list, if not all, are on the same journey
too. We've just been on it longer.
Welcome.

Dear Barney,
I too believe that a huge energy is flowing around and is a part of this
experience we call being human. I think that we did start having a hard
time with being human about 2000 years ago, but I think that the catalyst
was started many many years before that. I believe that WAY back, when we
were in the ages of honoring ourselves and Mother Earth and allowing
ourselves to *see* the beauty of each other - then, we were balanced. And
by making these things not "socially acceptable", we have somehow disturbed
the flow of these incredible massive energy forces. We are just out of
balance, and are returning to the proper balance of honoring ourselves, The
Source of All, and of course Mother Earth.
Hang in all - we're in for a ride, :) Believe in your own divine beauty,
and everything will be in harmony and balance. :)
In light,
Michelle
