How do we know it isn't just coincidence? After all, a lot of people
suffer pain, disruption to their lives and psyche, migraine, etc.,
without K, and a lot with it. So what difference does K make?

I'm comparing this with arguments like: Fred's grandfather has smoked
for 60 years and never got lung cancer, yet Joe got it in 5 years of
smoking. How do you prove that smoking is the cause when you have such a
small sample set? Indeed, in the case of smoking, it has taken a long,
long time to show beyond reasonable doubt that there is a causal rather
than a coincidental link, even though 95% of all lung cancers happen to
smokers.
